Starting at UCA has been a great experience for me as it feels much less restrictive than school. I have much preferred learning about sound, editing and filming compared to spending a whole day working on Maths, Science etc. Over these last three weeks I have very much enjoyed filming our video "Theft" that I edited with music as it gave me a taste of film directing and pacing. I am also looking forward to working with other filming equipment such as gimbles and tripods to improve my future projects. So far, I've also had the opportunity to use audio recorders to input my Foley art sounds into a video clip.
Furthermore, I have worked on rotoscoping by using video footage I captured myself and editing it using Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Bridge. I found rotoscoping a very enjoyable experience and I have gained lots of knowledge of how to improve my rotoscoping skills in the future. Working with software programs such as Premiere Pro and Photoshop has given me an insight to the endless capabilities of film and editing. Most of my work for the UCA has been uploaded to my blog however I have kept filling a notebook with any important information or planning I have been using for this first project. In addition to my work I have completed at UCA I have been taking lots of photos of structures and nature to improve my photography skills; this I have found very enjoyable because I have a passion for photography. I have posted several photos to my blog that I took while I was at, one of London's building complexes, Canary Wharf.
Throughout this first project I have learnt a considerable amount of information that includes working with software I have never used before and understanding how to use filming equipment. I think this first project has gone very well and I am satisfied with the work I have produced so far. My favourite part of this project has been working with Premiere Pro to apply music to videos and create stop-motion stills.
Overall, I've had a brilliant first term and I'm excited to get the most out of this course.
