By cutting up letters in different sizes and fonts and linking it to my Ink Blot Photoshop edits I managed to create this typography piece. To achieve the effect of shattered glass I used a craft knife to create dynamic shapes. From the abstract nature in which I cut my photos it made me think of the idea of distorting reality and so they are key themes throughout both typography pieces.

A grid is used to create a set of rules for how components should be placed on a page.
This is a critical part in making the content intriguing and assisting the viewer in determining where to find the next piece of information within the layout. A grid adds order and hierarchy to the information however it can be highly effective to 'break the grid'.
Using InDesign I created this Booklet, keeping with themes from the Altered States Project, to experiment with 'breaking the grid'. I tried adjusting the kerning, tracking, leading of text to create abstract and eye-catching typography. I also used the pen tool to create complex shapes on the background, which I then applied text to using the type on path tool. Below are images of my booklet and a link to a digital flipbook.
