As a section of my final major project I wanted to try and create a few pieces in Photoshop inspired by my contextual research on Ralph McQuarrie. I was able to produce my own interpretation of his concept art by using Photoshop and After Effects.
For my first piece I layered many different images in Photoshop and aligned them so that they had a three-dimensional aesthetic. I then used the curves tool on different layers to make the light match between the images. This was quite a challenge as all the images were from completely different sources and I had to make it look as if they were all part of the same scene. Below is a short video showing how the different layers in Photoshop combine to make the image.
This was my final outcome for this piece, which depicts a Jedi emerging from a fight.

The next task I set myself was to create a space background in Photoshop which I could then import into After Effects to create a short animation. Firstly, I used a similar technique as before; layering different images to make a background in Photoshop. Then, I sourced an image of a modified Tie Fighter and key framed its movements/actions in After Effects.

This is my final animation which I also added audio to, using Premiere Pro.
