Halloween 2 released in 1981 is very influential to my film "The Asylum". It follows directly on from the first film as Michael Myers' killing rampage continues. With a good portion of the film taking place in a hospital; it has some great shots that reminiscent of a mental hospital. In addition to this the sharp sounding audio and the use of its soundtrack keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire movie.
With the first Halloween having been directed by John Carpenter; the second instalment had a lot to live up to.
The director of the second film Rick Rosenthal was criticised for his over use of violence and gore compared to the first film that would later become a main trait of the franchise for future movies.
I love the theatrical poster used to advertise Halloween 2 as its simple colour scheme and use of shadows gives it a horror-style aesthetic. As what was traditional for movies at this time the poster had a quote to entice people into seeing it.

The Insidious franchise is one of my favourite horror movie franchises due to its use of sound and unexpected jump scares. Insidious the last key is the fourth instalment in the franchise and provides some scenes that I used to influence the making of my film.
The film has a very unique colour palate; using light, cool blues contrasted against dark backgrounds in the intense scenes. Throughout the film there are many dream-like sequences that include things like endless hallways and doors to create a sense of entrapment. This is the same feeling I wanted to convey in my film.
The poster used to promote the film uses the same blue/black colour scheme ,used in some of the scenes in the film, with the main focus being on the hand of the antagonist "KeyFace". when it comes to marketing my film I will use this poster as inspiration for my advertising.
