So far in this project I have researched an issue that I feel passionately about, made a sandwich board, edited a green screen photo on photoshop and have experimented with After Effects to make kinetic typography.
The topic I chose to research was animal cruelty as I love animals and I think it is a crucial issue that needs to be fixed. After I had gained more knowledge about the subject I made a design for a sandwich board. This design was then replicated on InDesign and then improved before I printed it off to make the full sandwich board. After I had made the sandwich board I had photos taken of me infant of a green screen which I then imported to photoshop where I added a background image. Using After Effects I made kinetic typography by utilising the tools provided. I used these skills to create my first motion poster which had text appear as kinetic typography. Furthermore, I learnt about how different fonts can drastically change the aesthetic of your work. By looking at different fonts it allowed me to choose one that was suitable for my final motion poster.
In addition to this, I had a poetry workshop that helped me to convey my thoughts as words. When writing my poems, I had the animal cruelty topic at the front of my mind so that I could fully express my emotions against it. This workshop also helped me come up with encouraging slogans which I would later use in my motion posters.
At the time of writing this, I am currently planning my final motion poster which will be made using Illustrator and After Effects. I have prepared multiple images which I will animate in conjunction with some kinetic typography. I am satisfied with how this project is going and I am looking forward to completing my final motion poster.
Before completing my final motion poster, I had a Zoom chat with a member of the Boobette's, from the Coppa Feel charity. She gave me a vast amount of information of how the charity started and what you need to do to prevent breast cancer from taking your life. The emotional story of Kristin Hallenga gave me lots of ideas for my motion poster and how it should be displayed. After this informative chat I got to work on my final motion poster and I ended up being very pleased with its outcome.
The final task in the propaganda project was to make an information pamphlet/leaflet about my chosen human issue; animal cruelty. So that I was prepared for the approaching week I collated and wrote down all of the information that was to in my pamphlet. Doing this made sure I completed the project on time and efficiently. Using InDesign I presented all of my animal cruelty information onto a gate folding pamphlet. The tools in InDesign allowed me to present my information and images in the format that I desired. To compliment my pamphlet, I pressed my logo into a badge so that it could be pinned to clothing or bags.
Overall, I have had another successful term and I feel like my work has greatly improved since my first term at UCA.
