To get thinking about all of the ideas that could possibly use for this project I created a stop motion animated mind map and a GIF of a, crime/thriller style, mood board. Below is the work I produced to explore the many themes of Altered States.
This is the Stop Motion Mind Map I made by taking 230 photos over the course of sketching my ideas and planning. Instead of having the camera in a fixed position I decided to make it look as if it was following branches I made between each idea. I think this worked as a concept and without stabilisation it gives the stop motion a sense of organised chaos. I stitched all the frames together using Splice and Premiere Rush and then added the music in Premiere Pro.
My next task was to make a mood board which was Stop motion animated and version as a GIF. This mood board is influenced by the way detectives brainstorm there ideas on TV shows/films with a bulletin board, pins and rubber bands. These pictures have greatly inspired me for this project as they represent a wide variety of themes that I could explore in this project.
Using Photoshop, I selected three frames from my stop motion mood board video and created a GIF. I did this by putting the frames into a timeline, duplicating them, reversing the last three and then exporting them as a GIF. This is a screenshot of the frames in the timeline on Photoshop.
