To give us all the vital information needed to begin the final major project a lecture was hoisted by Rebecca Waterworth. So that I had this information for future reference I took this list of notes.
10 week project which allows you to demonstrate a body of independent work with a finished outcome.
Your work will illustrate your personal and conceptual journey through a range of media.
Assessment of research and problem solving as well as final outcome.
Development is a crucial part of the project.
Equivalent of an examination.
Deadline for self-written project proposal is Monday 21st March.
Include practice work in project proposal.
Friday 20th May is final deadline for all work produced over the 2-year course.
FMP takes up 50% of both year 1 & 2 grades.
Interim Major Project - 16%, A1 - 16%, B1 - 16%.
Graded in order from Pass, Merit, Distinction.
FMP should be based on something you're interested in that you can communicate to others.
Project Proposal - Title of project, aim, relation to other work, how are you going to achieve this, experimentation.
Research - Theories and ideas, Facts and figures, Objects and images.
9 total work weeks, 1 setting up week, 3 weeks for Easter break, 45 studio days.
Time planning - Project proposal must include a timetable with key deadlines.
Timetable can be speculative and may change in practice.
Proposal draft due on Monday 7th March / 2nd draft due on Monday 14th March.
Project concept - Should link to some of your previous work, make it ambitious it achievable, do not state what your final outcome will be.
Research is vital in the early stages of the project, use your website and studio space to display your research.
Harvard referencing must be documented of your project proposal/Padlet.
In addition to this lecture I also attended another talk which was specifically catered to my creative media course. Below are the notes I took to help me plan for FMP.
Research, analysis, visual, written, reflective development, formal elements, specialism, production.
Viewpoints, surface, scale, space, colour, texture, composition.
3D modelling - exploration of techniques.
Include trials and test pieces to show progression and development.
Document trees of ideas, annotate, critique, creative referencing.
Context can be around technical production.
When researching use - form, content, process, mood, context, show.
Trial and error, shoots, storyboards, experimentation.
Film and Photography -
Using green screen, projecting film onto objects, viewpoint, portraiture, digital manipulation, long shutter speed, mirrors.
Planning - Research, Photography, concept art/story boarding, visual effects piece, 3D modelling/printing.
Film Production - Props sourcing, costume sources, location research, cinematography.
Keep blog Padlet and portfolio up to date.
All digital files should be uploaded to shared OneDrive as a backup.
