With my knowledge from the photogrammetry workshop I 3D scanned my plaster casted piece. This involved the long process of taking over 60 photos, importing them into Meta Shape, processing them and then finally viewing the model in Cloud Compare. Below is an image sequence of the photos I used to construct the digital model.
After importing all of my photos into Meta Shape I made sure all the cameras were aligned and then waited about 90 minutes for the software to build a dense cloud.
Once Meta Shape had finished processing I also saved a version of the model as a mesh. This joins all the points and solidifies the object so that it can be used in programs such as Fusion 360 and Blender.
By opening the e57 file I exported from Meta Shape in Cloud Compare, I was able to view the full 3D scan. Below is a gallery of screen shots of my cast viewed in Cloud Compare.
To showcase the immense detail captured by Meta Shape I did a screen recording while I examined my model in Cloud Compare.
